Assistant Manager – Japanese Restaurant

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing day-to-day restaurant operations and opening/closing procedures
• Monitor service quality and ensure Japanese dining standards and hospitality are maintained
• Handle guest concerns and resolve complaints professionally
• Supervise, motivate, and coach restaurant staff during shifts
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new employees
• Prepare staff schedules and manage shift coverage
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and HACCP standards
• Manage inventory levels, conduct stock counts, and minimize food waste
• Support daily cash handling, reconciliation, and cost-control initiatives
• Monitor labor costs, productivity, and prepare operational reports

Requirements

• Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory or assistant management experience in a restaurant
• Experience in a Japanese or Asian dining concept is preferred
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Familiarity with POS systems and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management or Business Administration
• Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and dining etiquette
