About the role
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director to develop and implement the Laboratory's strategic plan
- Provide overall leadership of professional services and operational functions
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation
- Oversee research administration and project management across the Laboratory's portfolio
- Lead and develop professional services, technical, and operational staff
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with industry, government, and philanthropic partners
- Ensure compliance with university policies and regulatory requirements
- Oversee laboratory operations including robotics facilities and computing infrastructure
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification in management, engineering, science, business, or a related discipline
- Significant senior leadership experience within a university, research institute, or innovation organization
- Experience leading multidisciplinary operational teams
- Proven track record in strategic planning and organizational development
- Expertise in research administration and grant management
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting AI, robotics, engineering, or physical sciences research
- Experience with commercialization, innovation ecosystems, or technology transfer
