About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients, mise en place, and cooking under the guidance of the Sous Chef
- Execute cooking tasks according to recipes and hotel quality standards
- Maintain and organize the assigned kitchen section, ensuring cleanliness and equipment functionality
- Ensure quality, taste, and presentation of dishes meet standards
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations regarding handling, storage, and disposal
- Assist in menu development, recipe testing, and suggesting improvements
- Collaborate with kitchen staff for efficient operations
- Monitor food inventory, assist in ordering, and manage stock levels
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff including Commis Chefs and apprentices
Requirements
- Culinary school diploma or equivalent culinary training
- Previous experience in a similar role in a hotel or restaurant kitchen
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Strong culinary skills and passion for cooking
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Immediate availability in the UAE is an advantage
