Classroom Teacher

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities in accordance with the HEI curriculum and child-centered pedagogical approach
• Implement lesson plans that meet developmental objectives and maintain a structured classroom schedule
• Observe and evaluate student performance, creating detailed reports and maintaining updated student portfolios
• Manage student behavior using positive reinforcement and age-appropriate classroom procedures
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment while adhering to all health and safety regulations
• Foster strong relationships with parents through regular communication and parent-teacher conferences
• Supervise, mentor, and conduct performance reviews for Teaching Assistants
• Manage classroom inventory, expenses, and essential student records such as attendance and time sheets
• Collaborate with the Nursery Principal to improve educational offerings and curriculum implementation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
• NCFE Cache Level 3 certificate
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a nursery or early learning setting
• Fluency in English
• Strong classroom management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional standards regarding child information

Preferred Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role with experience supervising staff
• Knowledge of Finnish or Scandinavian curriculum models
• Experience with child-centered education philosophies
