Contract Due Diligence Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Review mortgage loan files to ensure accuracy and verify required documentation
• Perform due diligence review of residential mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with investor/product guidelines and AUS requirements
• Analyze borrower credit profile, collateral, and capacity to repay, including income calculation
• Calculate loan-to-value ratios and debt carried
• Analyze purchase contracts, title commitments, and other loan-pertinent documentation
• Enter review results into proprietary software
• Execute risk analysis and recommend resolutions for identified deficiencies
• Stay current on agency, state, and investor guidelines
• Manage time efficiently to meet daily production goals
• Clear QA feedback and perform within audit standards

Requirements

• Strong working knowledge of LauraMac Due Diligence software
• 5+ years of current underwriting experience, preferably in Quality Control
• Minimum 1-year Due Diligence experience at a mortgage lending institution
• Familiarity with post-close quality control best practices
• Strong knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guidelines, QM/ATR
• Proficiency in Non-QM loan processes and requirements
• Deep understanding of DSCR/business purpose loans
• Strong appraisal review skills
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a high-volume environment
