DevOps/Network Engineer (VPN)

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve a globally distributed VPN network spanning multiple cloud and hosting providers
• Manage AWS-based control plane and backend services
• Transition manual runbooks into automated infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines
• Improve reliability, security, and cost-efficiency of the Lumos VPN product
• Participate in 24/7 on-call support and incident response
• Use agentic AI tools to accelerate infrastructure development and investigation

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional DevOps, SRE, or network engineering experience
• Proficiency with AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, Route 53, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Expertise in Linux system administration and networking (iptables, WireGuard, DNS, TLS)
• Hands-on experience operating VPN or proxy infrastructure at scale
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash
• Demonstrated use of AI agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) in daily workflows
• Experience with observability tools like Datadog or Prometheus/Grafana
• Security-minded approach to secrets management and encryption

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with censorship-circumvention technologies (Shadowsocks, V2Ray/Xray)
• Experience with Kubernetes, Nomad, or similar orchestration
• Experience with userspace network stacks (lwIP, gVisor)
• Experience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices
• Familiarity with mobile app release pipelines
