About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the annual internal audit plan based on risk assessments
- Review academic and administrative activities for compliance with regulations and international standards
- Audit financial procedures, procurement, research grants, and scholarships
- Follow up on the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations
- Advise university departments on improving internal processes and institutional performance
- Lead and develop the internal audit team through training programs
- Ensure compliance with International Professional Standards of Internal Auditing (IIA)
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies
- Evaluate the efficiency of the university's internal control system
- Audit and monitor budgets and the movement of university funds
- Monitor and ensure proper inventory of university assets
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification (mandatory)
- Minimum of 10 years of audit experience
- At least 5 years in a leadership role within an academic or governmental institution
- Strong knowledge of higher education laws and regulations
- Familiarity with electronic auditing systems and data analysis tools
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities
