Job description
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a distributed engineering team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development
- Contribute directly to team goals with sound engineering principles
- Set and manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
- Advocate for modern, agile software development practices and great engineering culture
- Influence technical strategy and execution for Ubuntu Core across ARM, RISC-V, and x86 architectures
- Define reliable and secure device recovery mechanisms for IoT, automotive, and aviation fleets
Requirements
- Demonstrated competency in embedded software development
- Strong skills in Golang, C++, and Shell
- Solid understanding of Linux and a modern GNU/Linux distribution (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
- Track record of developing and growing people
- Proven ability to plan and deliver high-quality software on time
- Solid experience working in an agile development environment
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or compelling alternative path
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with an immutable Linux distribution, preferably Ubuntu Core
- Experience with multiple CPU architectures such as ARM and RISC-V
- Experience with Linux native containerization and security
