Job description

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a distributed engineering team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development
  • Contribute directly to team goals with sound engineering principles
  • Set and manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Advocate for modern, agile software development practices and great engineering culture
  • Influence technical strategy and execution for Ubuntu Core across ARM, RISC-V, and x86 architectures
  • Define reliable and secure device recovery mechanisms for IoT, automotive, and aviation fleets

Requirements

  • Demonstrated competency in embedded software development
  • Strong skills in Golang, C++, and Shell
  • Solid understanding of Linux and a modern GNU/Linux distribution (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
  • Track record of developing and growing people
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver high-quality software on time
  • Solid experience working in an agile development environment
  • Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or compelling alternative path
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with an immutable Linux distribution, preferably Ubuntu Core
  • Experience with multiple CPU architectures such as ARM and RISC-V
  • Experience with Linux native containerization and security
