About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide dynamic leadership of the English department across primary and secondary phases
- Develop and implement a clear vision and improvement plan for English
- Line manage and support departmental staff through performance management, CPD, and mentoring
- Design, develop, and oversee the delivery of a progressive English curriculum from EYFS to KS5
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality of teaching and learning through observations and learning walks
- Use assessment data to track progress, identify trends, and implement targeted interventions
- Ensure pupils of all abilities, including SEND and EAL, are appropriately supported and challenged
- Foster cross-phase collaboration between primary and secondary English staff
- Uphold and promote the school's safeguarding policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- PGDE / PGCE
- Master's Degree preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience
- Experience in leadership or departmental management
