About the role
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new non-standard business submissions for appetite acceptability, proper pricing, and profitability
- Rate, quote, and bind coverage on new and renewal business opportunities
- Maintain underwriting files and prepare reports and presentations
- Act as a liaison between accounting, claims, and loss control departments
- Approve and issue endorsement requests per underwriting and service guidelines
- Collaborate with other underwriters to drive multi-line sales
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external producer partners
- Ensure terms and conditions match all regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5+ years of Property & Casualty E&S underwriting experience
- Strong knowledge of insurance rating, forms, and coverages
- Ability to make timely decisions with appropriate information
- Strong negotiation skills
- Proven track record of building business relationships with agents and insureds
- Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry designations such as CPCU or AU
