Financial Controller

Responsibilities

• Run end-to-end finance for a portfolio of founder-led ecommerce clients, including month-end close, management accounts, and cashflow reporting
• Deliver month-end close within 10 working days for every client, ensuring full balance sheet reconciliations are signed off
• Own multi-channel revenue reconciliation using A2X or Link My Books (Shopify, Amazon, and other marketplaces)
• Reconcile payment processor payouts including Stripe, Klarna, PayPal, and Shopify Payments, accounting for fees, FX, and refunds
• Handle inventory and COGS accounting, including landed costs, stock adjustments, and 3PL reconciliations
• Maintain granular weekly cashflow forecasts and build reporting packs/KPI dashboards for clients
• Lead weekly and monthly client calls to walk founders through their numbers and flag risks or opportunities
• Manage and mentor Finance Managers to ensure high standards of accuracy and timeliness

Requirements

• ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification
• 3+ years of experience owning end-to-end finance for multiple clients or business units simultaneously
• Hands-on ecommerce accounting expertise (Shopify, A2X, or Link My Books)
• Advanced Xero skills, including tracking categories, bank rules, and consolidations
• Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets with the ability to build financial models
• Proven experience reconciling payment processors and managing multi-channel revenue
• Ability to communicate complex financial data confidently to non-finance founders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working at a multi-client accounting firm or fractional CFO practice
• Experience with inventory-heavy ecommerce, including 3PL reconciliations and landed cost analysis
• Familiarity with using AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini to optimize workflows
• Previous experience mentoring or managing junior finance team members
