The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) stewards the movement of people putting effective altruism principles into practice to solve the world's most pressing problems. We’re working to build a flourishing future by applying evidence, reason, and compassion to challenges like global poverty, animal suffering, and existential risks.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and evaluate grant opportunities rigorously, assessing theories of change and expected impact
• Actively source high-quality applications and grantmaking opportunities
• Communicate grantmaking reasoning transparently through reports and public writing
• Develop a compelling strategy for EAIF's focus areas and role in the funding ecosystem
• Oversee the Community Building Grants program to fund EA community builders
• Grow EAIF's donor base and cultivate relationships with potential donors
• Develop strategic partnerships with aligned funders and organizations
• Hire and manage additional staff to support grantmaking efforts

Requirements

• Genuine commitment to Effective Altruism principles
• Familiarity with the EA community, its organizations, and debates
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to shape strategic direction
• Strong social and communication skills for stakeholder management

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities
• Experience in grantmaking, philanthropic leadership, or related fields
• Track record of building and scaling products or programs
• Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets
• Track record of leading fundraising efforts
• Strong people and project management skills
