About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead legal strategy on payer contracting, reimbursement, coverage and market access matters
- Lead review, drafting and negotiation of complex agreements with private payors and managed care organizations
- Advise Market Access and senior business leaders on payer strategy and reimbursement frameworks
- Advise on compliance with federal and state healthcare laws affecting billing, coding and reimbursement
- Develop legal frameworks, playbooks and templates for payer contracting and reimbursement
- Monitor healthcare regulatory changes such as PAMA and state biomarker coverage legislation
Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar membership
- 5+ years of legal experience in healthcare law, market access or payer contracting
- Experience negotiating contracts with payors, health plans or managed care organizations
- Understanding of U.S. reimbursement and coding systems, including MolDx, CPT and CLFS
- Experience advising on appeals, coverage disputes or reimbursement challenges
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in diagnostics, life sciences or laboratory services
- Familiarity with payer policy development, utilization management or claims adjudication
- Prior in-house experience in a growth-oriented healthcare or biotech organization or commercial insurer
