Lead AI Engineer (LLM & Agents)

Responsibilities

• Build and own AI backend and Agent workflows
• Design, build, and maintain multi-turn conversation systems, including context management, tool calling, knowledge retrieval (RAG), state management, and human handoff
• Drive evaluation and continuous improvement by defining success criteria with Product, Design, and QA leads
• Turn production failures into evaluation samples and regression tests
• Measure the impact and side effects of every change before and after release
• Diagnose problems across the stack, including model judgment, knowledge gaps, and backend instability
• Own production reliability, handling timeouts, retries, and graceful degradation
• Shape product and technical decisions by providing clear, reasoned positions on feasibility, cost, and risk
• Communicate proactively and follow through on progress, blockers, and ETAs

Requirements

• Production LLM/Agent experience at scale (features used by 10,000+ active users)
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals, including APIs, data flows, and incident troubleshooting
• Real evaluation discipline with experience building evaluation sets and regression suites
• Ownership mindset with a focus on production verification
• Web3 experience, preferably 1 year in a crypto, DeFi, or Web3 company
