About the role
Responsibilities
- Deploy, support, and upgrade SQL Server instances across AWS (EC2 and RDS)
- Monitor database infrastructure health and optimize performance
- Troubleshoot complex SQL Server issues and remove deployment blockers
- Develop SQL commands, stored procedures, and PowerShell scripts for automation
- Support the transition toward AWS-native database services like Aurora and DynamoDB
- Maintain documentation on configurations and processes
- Participate in an on-call schedule for evenings and weekends
Requirements
- 10+ years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud-native database services
- Experience with RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, and S3-based data lakes
- Ability to analyze and resolve performance issues using Extended Events or DMVs
- Advanced knowledge of SQL programming, including stored procedures and triggers
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (CloudFormation or CDK)
- Knowledge of Ansible
- Exposure to AWS cost optimization practices
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
- Understanding of data warehouse and data lake concepts
