About the role
Responsibilities
- Solicit high-quality manuscripts in all areas relevant to the Journal
- Drive the strategic direction of the Journal by assessing manuscripts and selecting Associate Editors and reviewers
- Identify and recruit new Associate Editors with a focus on diverse representation
- Assist the editorial office to promote papers via video, blog posts and media
- Promote the Journal and the BES at conferences
- Contribute to the Journal's development and cross-journal initiatives
- Act as Associate Editor for a limited number of manuscripts
Requirements
- Active and relevant publication record
- Knowledge of the subject area, complementary to existing Editors
- Experience of reviewing and other editorial work
- Ability to work in a team and think strategically
- Ability to work independently and prioritise multiple projects
- Ability to form and engage scientific networks
- Commitment to the BES mission
