About the role
Responsibilities
- Review provider documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for visits, procedures, testing and treatments
- Prepare and submit clean claims electronically to insurance carriers
- Review claim edits, rejections, EOBs and ERA postings; assist with corrections, rebilling and appeals
- Monitor claim status and ensure timely reimbursement
- Code and bill allergy testing, immunotherapy, biologic injections and pulmonary function testing
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer policies and federal regulations
- Participate in internal audits and quality assurance reviews
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing and coding experience
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and medical terminology
- Experience with claim submission, payment posting, denial management and insurance billing
- Proficiency with EMR and practice management software
- Strong attention to detail, communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CPC, CCS, CPB or equivalent certification
- Experience coding allergy testing, immunotherapy and respiratory procedures
- Previous remote medical billing and coding experience
