About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for UN Women's initiatives on women's economic empowerment in the handloom, handicrafts, and textile sector
  • Coordinate with the Ministry of Textiles, government agencies, implementing partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Design and facilitate training programmes and workshops on gender, entrepreneurship, leadership, and sustainable textile practices
  • Develop technical reports, policy briefs, concept notes, proposals, and communication materials
  • Support research and advocacy regarding women artisans, weavers, and circularity in the textile sector
  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of consultations, conferences, exhibitions, and flagship events like Bharat TEX
  • Monitor programme implementation and document lessons learned and good practices
  • Identify partnership-building and resource mobilization opportunities

Requirements

  • Degree in design, fashion technology, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in the handloom, handicrafts, or textile sector
  • Experience in sustainable or circular economy sectors
  • Expertise in developing training manuals and conducting workshops
  • Knowledge of gender equality and women's economic empowerment (livelihoods, entrepreneurship)
  • Experience working with government institutions and development partners
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports and policy briefs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Fluency in English (written) and good command of Hindi

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations
  • Experience in designing capacity-building programmes for large scale stakeholders
