About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough credit and collateral review of loan files to determine deficiencies
- Manually calculate income across all non-QM programs including complex self-employed profiles
- Conduct REO analysis and review title, trust, and condo documents
- Meet contractual turn times for initial, and resubmission, and CTC reviews
- Communicate professionally with processors, LOs, and client account managers
- Evaluate Non-QM loan applications for compliance with client, investor, and company policies
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with Non-QM loans
- Train and mentor peers
- Support and work on multiple loans for one borrower
Requirements
- Recent experience underwriting Non-QM loan programs
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws (TILA, ECOA, RESPA, etc.)
- Strong ability to independently review Title, Appraisal, and Full condo project reviews
- Expert knowledge of AUS (DU, LP) results
- Full understanding of current FNMA/FHLMC underwriting guidelines
- 5+ years recent, hands-on experience in Non-QM underwriting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment
- Strong understanding of Non-QM borrower profiles, income, and documentation requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Non-QM loan origination systems and software
- Demonstrated ability to calculate full and alternative document income methods (DSCR, 1099, asset utilization, etc.)
