Platform Administrator (Databricks)

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple Databricks workspaces across dev, qa, and prod environments
• Configure cluster policies, governance, and compliance
• Create and maintain Unity Catalog objects including catalogs, schemas, grants, and service principals
• Monitor and debug failed or long-running jobs using system tables
• Troubleshoot cluster crashes, driver OOM, executor failures, and memory leaks
• Investigate Python and Spark errors and dependency conflicts
• Assist users with cluster/job configuration and Unity Catalog permissions
• Provide guidance on platform limitations and best practices to Data engineers
• Maintain documentation and troubleshooting guides in Confluence

Requirements

• Experience in implementation, integration, or technical support
• Proficiency with Linux and Bash
• Confident SQL skills
• Strong experience with AWS Infrastructure (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Secret Management, SQS)
• Python experience sufficient for writing scripts or applications
• Experience maintaining Databricks jobs and environments
• Experience with REST API/SDK
• Understanding of file-based databases such as DeltaLake, Parquet, and Hive
• Understanding of cluster types and node families
• Spoken English at Intermediate level or higher

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Databricks REST API and SDK
• Knowledge of schema evolution, time travel, vacuum, compaction, and z-order
• Ability to debug corrupted delta tables
• Understanding of ACID implementation on object storage
• Spark knowledge, experience with Kafka, and familiarity with Terraform or GitLab CI
• Experience with cost monitoring for platform services
• Experience in enterprise Data platforms
