About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and scale legal and compliance programs across Africa
- Lead workstreams covering sanctions, anti-bribery, anti-corruption, privacy, healthcare, and employment regulations
- Manage litigation and disputes across African markets
- Own compliance with U.S. government award requirements (FARs and 2 CFR 200)
- Translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance for business and technical teams
- Monitor regulatory developments in African jurisdictions and advise leadership on risks
- Act as a senior legal advisor to business leaders and foster a culture of compliance
Requirements
- Experience advising on legal and compliance matters, preferably in international or emerging-market environments
- Ability to break down complex regulatory problems into practical solutions
- Strong judgment and confidence to make independent decisions
- Excellent communication skills for advising senior stakeholders
- Willingness to travel up to 25% to Africa and San Francisco
