About the role
Responsibilities
- Review medical record documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes
- Apply current coding and billing requirements to ensure correct claim submission
- Monitor coding performance and resolve denials related to coding errors
- Perform charge corrections and rebilling for denial resolution
- Develop preventative measures based on claims denial data analysis
- Advise providers on documentation and billing policies and regulations
- Educate staff on coding and billing changes to ensure compliance
- Stay updated on coding rules and industry periodicals
Requirements
- GED or High School diploma
- Required certification (CCS, CPC, BCHH-C, RHIA, RHIT, or HCCS) or ability to obtain within one year
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and basic encoder skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
