Product Designer, Connect

Responsibilities

• Design polished, production-ready user interfaces for Chess.com apps across web, iOS, and Android
• Own projects from early problem definition through implementation
• Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to define requirements and explore design directions
• Use established design systems to create responsive, interactive experiences
• Create and iterate on prototypes using AI-assisted tools like Cursor and Claude
• Present design decisions using clear rationale and user insights
• Participate proactively in a Slack-heavy remote environment

Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience as a Product Designer on a consumer-facing product or game
• Portfolio demonstrating polished UI design for web and mobile apps
• Strong command of UI design fundamentals (typography, color, layout, visual hierarchy)
• Experience working with established design systems using tokens and components
• Familiarity with frontend development and design-to-code translation
• Experience using AI-assisted tools like Cursor and Claude for prototyping
• Strong communication and ownership skills in a remote, distributed team

Preferred Qualifications

• Love for chess and knowledge of the Chess.com product
• Experience designing social features for mobile games or consumer products
• Motion design experience
• Design engineering or frontend development experience on web, iOS, or Android
