QA Engineer

About the Company

Colonist is building the biggest digital board game platform on the internet. We are a fully remote, asynchronous team focused on crafting extremely polished digital board games that people truly love.

Responsibilities

• Fix quality issues directly in the codebase
• Drive fixes for larger issues end-to-end
• Run weekly QA sessions on dev and staging builds on a fixed release cycle
• Test PRs across web, mobile, and Discord, including happy paths and edge cases
• Monitor Discord bug channels and convert player reports into structured tickets
• Identify UX issues and illogical behaviors that fall outside standard bug definitions
• Proactively find gaps in the QA process and propose improvements

Requirements

• Experience with full-cycle QA: test planning, execution, reporting, and follow-through
• Ability to work within the codebase to open PRs for smaller fixes
• Proficiency with web, mobile, Discord, GitHub, Linear, and BrowserStack
• Strong asynchronous communication skills
• AI-fluency and active use of AI tools to improve workflow
• Self-directed and able to work without hand-holding

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with QA for multiplayer or real-time games
• Automation skills in Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress
• Interest in board games or experience playing Colonist
