Reporter, Defense (Business & Capital)

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a bi-weekly newsletter exploring the biggest trends and news shaping the business of defense
• Break news on venture capital, startups, mergers and acquisitions, public companies, defense procurement and the financial forces reshaping the industry
• Help Axios readers understand how Pentagon priorities, procurement shifts and industrial policy influence investments and corporate strategy
• Become a public authority on stage and elsewhere to help illuminate these important issues

Requirements

• Reporting experience in a fast-paced news environment
• Demonstrated experience landing big scoops and conceptualizing big ideas
• Strong writing skills for online and newsletters
• Ability to command a stage and live interview
• Experience working across teams to produce quality content
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Commitment to building and nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment
• Belief in Smart Brevity writing style
