About the role
Responsibilities
- Assess current denials processes, workflows, and performance
- Analyze denial trends and identify root causes and financial risks
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce preventable denials
- Lead denials-related projects from planning through implementation
- Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, and status reporting
- Coordinate activities across revenue cycle teams and stakeholders
- Facilitate project meetings and communicate progress and risks
- Monitor project deliverables and ensure initiatives remain on track
- Evaluate denial data and develop actionable recommendations
- Partner with operational leaders to implement process improvements
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, payer processes, and coding
- Track key performance indicators and measure impact
- Assist with developing standard operating procedures and documentation
- Provide subject matter expertise related to revenue cycle denials
- Communicate findings to operational and executive-level stakeholders
Requirements
- 7+ years of healthcare revenue cycle experience
- Significant experience in denials management
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end revenue cycle and denials management processes
- Demonstrated experience identifying denial trends and performing root-cause analysis
- Experience developing and implementing denial prevention strategies
- Project management experience required
- Ability to manage multiple project workstreams, timelines, and deliverables
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with revenue cycle data, reporting, and performance metrics
- Strong understanding of payer requirements and denial/appeal processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a consulting environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex issues to executive and operational stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading revenue cycle transformation or optimization projects
- Experience working with large health systems or complex healthcare organizations
- Experience with Epic or other major EHR/PM systems
- Formal project management certification (PMP, CAPM, or equivalent)
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or a related field
