Revenue Cycle Specialist

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient billing and insurance inquiries via Zendesk
• Place outbound calls to patients to resolve billing issues
• Educate patients on healthcare billing and insurance concepts
• Set up and document payment plans in Athena
• Manage patient AR follow-up and balance research
• Execute the patient financial discharge process
• Work Athena claim hold and denial queues
• Research claim status, eligibility, and benefits in payer portals and Availity
• Coordinate with clinical teams for documentation addendum requests
• Partner with credentialing to resolve claim holds
• Serve as the billing and insurance subject matter expert for the Patient Experience team
• Identify root causes of recurring denials and recommend process improvements

Requirements

• 2-3+ years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle operations
• 2-3+ years of experience managing patient and insurance accounts receivable
• Hands-on experience using billing platforms such as Athena
• Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and coding guidelines (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS)
• Experience working remotely in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
