About the role
Responsibilities
- Process release of information requests by retrieving, scanning, and transmitting medical charts
- Validate requests and authorizations for release of medical information
- Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing
- Provide professional customer service and handle telephone or facsimile inquiries
- Maintain working knowledge of state laws and fee structures
- Ensure all operations comply with HIPAA and state/federal regulations
Requirements
- High School Diploma (GED) required
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to type 50 wpm
- Experience using fax, copier, and scanning equipment
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
