Senior Backend Developer

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain secure, scalable backend services and REST APIs
• Develop the AI extraction pipeline turning emails, chats and documents into structured trade data
• Implement grounding, validation and confidence scoring using RAG
• Build workflow services for review, four-eyes approval, confirmations and trade versioning
• Develop integrations with CTRM, ERP, contract-management and data-lake platforms
• Build asynchronous processing with queues, webhooks, retries and reconciliation
• Design and maintain PostgreSQL data models including the canonical trade model and audit trail
• Support the VaR module, including position feeds and overnight risk runs
• Run services on AWS using containers with secure deployment patterns
• Build logging, monitoring and alerting into every service
• Write automated tests and maintain CI/CD pipelines
• Support root-cause analysis of production issues as L3 escalation

Requirements

• At least 7 years of hands-on backend development experience
• Strong Python development experience, with frameworks such as FastAPI
• Experience designing and operating REST APIs and event-driven systems
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including data modelling and performance tuning
• Production experience on AWS including ECS, Aurora, S3, IAM, KMS and Secrets Manager
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD and infrastructure as code
• Experience integrating enterprise systems, including mapping and reconciliation
• Experience with OAuth2, role-based access control and secure coding practices
• Experience supporting production systems and troubleshooting complex issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building LLM applications using Amazon Bedrock or Azure OpenAI
• Experience with RAG, prompt evaluation and measuring extraction accuracy
• Experience in commodity trading, energy, capital markets or financial-services technology
• Understanding of the trade lifecycle across Front, Middle and Back Office
• Experience integrating with E/CTRM platforms such as Endur, Allegro or Eka
• Exposure to market-risk calculations such as Value at Risk
• Experience with Azure and deploying software into client-owned environments
