Senior Customer Engineer, Sub-Saharan Africa

Responsibilities

• Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery and map customer infrastructure to Cloudflare architectures
• Define and execute Proof of Concept (PoC) plans and technical evaluations
• Oversee technical onboarding and implementation, acting as the primary engineering contact
• Carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition and account growth
• Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle
• Leverage AI agents and LLMs to automate routine tasks and workflows
• Design and govern technical resources and best practices

Requirements

• Fluency in English (written and spoken); French is a plus
• Experience in customer-facing technical roles (Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, etc.)
• Ability to design and articulate complex enterprise network and security architectures
• Proven track record in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment
• Deep understanding of Internet fundamentals (OSI Model, BGP, DNS, HTTP(S))
• Expertise in at least four technical domains: Security, Performance, Coding/Scripting, or Developer Platforms
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering technical enablement (workshops, documentation)
• Applied AI knowledge (LLM orchestration, RAG architectures)
• Understanding of regulatory requirements (PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC 2)
• Background in hyperscalers or digital native environments
