Senior Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE)

Responsibilities

• Own production PostgreSQL reliability including HA design, Patroni, PgBouncer, replication, and query tuning
• Improve disaster recovery through tested restores, documented recovery paths, and measurable RTO/RPO targets
• Support the wider database estate including ClickHouse, MongoDB, and Redis
• Automate DBA workflows using Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, and GitLab CI/CD
• Build DBaaS-style self-service capabilities for engineering teams
• Improve observability and incident response using Grafana, metrics, logs, and SLOs

Requirements

• 5+ years of deep hands-on PostgreSQL experience in production environments
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL internals (MVCC, WAL, transactions, locks, indexes)
• Proven experience with highly available databases and failover/recovery
• Strong Linux and infrastructure fundamentals (systemd, networking, storage, TLS)
• Automation skills with Ansible and scripting
• Ability to support multiple database engines
• Practical use of AI engineering assistants like Claude and Codex
• Upper-intermediate English proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• ClickHouse operations (replication, Keeper/ZooKeeper, MergeTree)
• MongoDB replica sets and Percona Backup
• Redis/Sentinel experience
• Experience building internal platforms or DBaaS workflows
