About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the engineering team directly through 1:1s, feedback, performance, and promotions
- Own software delivery and ensure predictable shipping rhythms
- Help engineers develop professional skills like scoping, estimating, and decision-making
- Maintain hands-on involvement in coding and technical decision-making
- Manage technical escalations and prioritize responses across customer and open-source issues
- Shape the product roadmap and make explicit technical tradeoffs
Requirements
- At least two years of experience managing engineers
- Proven track record of hiring and developing talent
- Strong background in software engineering and architectural reasoning
- Experience working in a startup environment
- Proficiency with coding agents and AI tooling
- Ability to balance long-term product work with customer deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ML tooling, data platforms, or evaluation systems
- Experience managing distributed teams
- Depth in frontend architecture
