Senior Legacy Conversion Consultant

Responsibilities

• Analyse and assess legacy applications, primarily developed in CA Gen
• Execute application migration projects using automation tooling
• Apply technical fixes and enhancements throughout the migration process
• Define migration approaches for database access, online transactions, batch processing, and user interfaces
• Deliver migrations to native COBOL environments and modern technology stacks like Java, .NET, and Spring Boot
• Validate converted applications for functional equivalence, maintainability, and performance
• Document migration standards, reusable patterns, and technical processes
• Engage with customers and technical stakeholders to explain migration approaches

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Strong commercial experience with CA Gen (Cool:Gen)
• Experience with application migration, legacy modernisation, or re-platforming
• Experience with Gen Models, Action Diagrams, Business Components, and Data Models
• Experience working in Mainframe environments (e.g., 3270 block-mode applications)
• Proficiency in one or more: COBOL, Java, .NET, Spring Boot, Angular, or Cloud platforms
• Experience using automation tooling for application migration
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills
• Excellent English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MigrationWorks or similar application migration tooling
• Knowledge of Mainframe tools such as ISPF, JCL, SPUFI, or SCLM
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
• Experience modernising enterprise applications to cloud or hybrid environments
