About the role
Responsibilities
- Organize and manage internal Shari'a audit assignments according to audit plans
- Oversee the process of Internal Shari'a audits and make recommendations on policies
- Ensure organization conforms with Shari'a rules and principles to mitigate risk
- Perform complex internal Shari'a audit assignments to ensure compliance with Internal Shari'a Supervisory Committee resolutions
- Develop risk-based Shari'a audit programs and define related risks and controls
- Prepare audit checklists, assignment planning memorandums, and working papers
- Identify critical Shari'a risks, control weaknesses, and process inefficiencies
- Ensure corrective actions are taken on previous audit exceptions
- Coordinate with IT teams to develop or improve Shari'a auditing reports
- Train new and existing staff on Shari'a related issues and audit approaches
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Sharia, Islamic Economics, or Islamic Banking
- CISSA and CIPA certifications (or alternative certifications)
- Professional certificate in auditing from an international organization
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in Arabic and English
- Strong IT skills
