About the role
Responsibilities
- Write code and tests, build prototypes, and analyze performance bottlenecks
- Use C++, JavaScript, Kotlin, Rust, and Python to fix performance issues
- Educate other engineers on writing performant code through reviews and documentation
- Independently define and drive actionable next steps from high-level objectives
- Lead performance efforts across various engineering teams
- Shape the future of performance benchmarks and set priorities for improvements
- Develop long-term strategies for the Performance team and the organization
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience
- Expert-level proficiency in C++ and a strong understanding of JavaScript
- Proven experience developing performance-critical software
- Ability to use profiling tools like VTune and Xperf to diagnose and fix issues
- Experience with multithreading, concurrency, disk I/O, and GPU
- Track record of setting team goals and driving them to completion
- Strong asynchronous written and verbal communication skills for a distributed team
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Web Standards or patterns
- Familiarity with Android or Windows OS application programming
- Solid understanding of statistics
- Prior experience working on a modern web browser
