About the role
Responsibilities
- Reduce complexity to create simple, delightful experiences for users
- Create prototypes and run experiments to iteratively test hypotheses
- Use and evolve the design system and guidelines to deliver new features
- Apply accessibility standards and guidelines to designs
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers on product plans and design processes
- Distill complex concepts into clear talking points for readers and communities
Requirements
- Clear communication of design goals and processes to team members and stakeholders
- Gives and welcomes constructive design feedback
- Experience conducting research and collaborating with UX researchers
- Balances future ideas with tactical delivery in the present
- Self-motivated, continuously develops skills and shares learnings
- 5+ years of experience on design teams
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree, or equivalent related experience
- Available for synchronous meetings 14:00-18:00 UTC
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in content consumption, publishing, education, or news
- In-person and remote user research experience
- Familiarity with Free Knowledge or Open Source communities
- Fluency in more than one language
