Senior/Principal Linux Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build, patch, and test userspace packages in the operating system
• Improve tooling and automation for the package-building process
• Remediate CVEs in RPM packages
• Work on customizing, optimizing, and creating packages to improve customer experience
• Develop automated tests for software and the system as a whole
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and open-source communities
• Participate in architecture-level discussions and planning
• Document projects to facilitate user integration
• Drive proofs of concept and minimum viable products
• Support multiple services through system design consulting and capacity planning

Requirements

• Understanding of Linux OS packaging (RPM or DEB)
• Familiarity with CVE remediation
• Deep understanding of Linux operating system internals
• Proven experience with Linux administration, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
• Proficiency in Bash, YAML, XML, JSON, REST APIs, and HTTP
• Familiarity with Python, GoLang, and Ansible
• At least 4 years of experience supporting Linux and at least 2 years of experience building Linux packages
