Software Engineer - AI Tooling Infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Build and operate production backend services behind Supabase's AI products
• Define, measure and meet reliability targets and SLOs
• Participate in AI Tooling on-call rotation and lead incident response
• Own authentication and authorization for AI and agent clients
• Own observability: metrics, traces, logs, dashboards and alerts
• Handle capacity, rate limits and abuse controls for agent traffic
• Improve architecture of owned services, including splitting services safely

Requirements

• 5+ years building and running backend services in production
• Strong TypeScript or Go
• Designed and operated APIs with real consumers
• OAuth, OIDC, JWT and API authorization expertise
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL and relational databases
• CI/CD, Docker, containerized deployments and infrastructure as code
• Ability to debug across services using metrics, traces and logs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with agent tooling (MCP or similar) or serving AI agent traffic
• Experience extracting a service from a larger codebase
• Experience with Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Logflare or similar, and SLO work
• Open-source contributions
