Software Engineer - Storage

Responsibilities

• Improve analytics bucket offering and storage of open formats like Iceberg and DuckLake
• Optimize assets to speed delivery for websites and mobile applications
• Build out the edge network to speed uploads and enable automatic cache invalidation
• Improve performance, observability and reliability of the storage server
• Work with the frontend team on a fast, powerful storage explorer
• Improve APIs, client libraries and CLI for an exceptional developer experience
• Resolve escalated support issues and identify systemic platform problems

Requirements

• 5+ years backend engineering experience running Node.js in production
• Experience with highly scalable, distributed systems
• Comfortable working across the stack, including deployment, monitoring and scaling
• Familiarity with observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana)
• Production-grade PostgreSQL usage, including tuning and troubleshooting
• Ownership mentality, driving projects end-to-end
• Empathy towards developer experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working on developer tools
• Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Designing and operating large file upload/download pipelines at scale
• CDN integration and optimization knowledge
• Image and video processing tools and codecs (sharp, ffmpeg, AVIF, WebM, Brotli)
• Frontend ecosystem experience (Next.js, React)
