About the role
Responsibilities
- Monitor implementation of resolutions from the Higher Shariah Authority (HSA), Central Bank of UAE, and Internal Shariah Supervision Committee (ISSC)
- Plan and execute Shariah compliance programs, including framework development, training, gap analysis, and incident management
- Provide day-to-day Shariah compliance advice to product, business, and control groups
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external regulators, auditors, and counsels
- Conduct Shariah compliance training for staff to foster a Shariah-compliant culture
- Support regular assessments of Islamic banking activities to ensure no contravention of Shariah rules
- Coordinate Shariah-related communications between international locations and the Head Office
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Shariah, Islamic Finance, Islamic Banking, Business Administration, Law, or related disciplines
- 2 to 4 years of experience in Shariah compliance within a reputable bank or financial institution
- Strong command of English and Arabic languages
- Solid understanding of AAOIFI Shariah Standards and CBUAE Higher Shariah Authority requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in Islamic Banking, Islamic Finance, Shariah Governance, or Islamic Commercial Jurisprudence
