Sr. Software Engineer II - Byte POS

Responsibilities

• Design and build consumer-facing and enterprise operational applications for the restaurant industry
• Use AI dev tooling to improve productivity across development, testing, and documentation
• Implement and uphold MVVM architecture patterns
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests
• Own features end-to-end from design to deployment (CI/CD)
• Scale and optimize the platform for worldwide expansion
• Interface with and support a variety of hardware devices
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and brand teams

Requirements

• BA/BS or higher in Computer Science or a related STEM field
• 5+ years hands-on experience building robust mobile software
• Strong Android fundamentals including Android SDK and application lifecycle
• Good working knowledge of Kotlin and modern Android development (Jetpack Compose)
• Proven history of writing robust software with proper architectures and testing strategies
• Ability to manage aspects of the development process including implementation, testing, or deployment

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to distributed systems and peer-to-peer architecture
• Restaurant tech, retail POS, or in-store operational system background
• Published native Android apps in portfolio
• Strong background in reactive UI patterns (Kotlin Flow/Coroutines, Jetpack Compose)
• Experience building payment systems or integrating with hardware peripherals
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Startup experience
