Staff Applied Scientist, Search & Discovery

Responsibilities

• Improve search retrieval and ranking to help members find and discover materials
• Build recommendation systems from the ground up to model member and project intent
• Conduct exploratory analysis on behavioral and catalog data to drive strategy
• Apply advanced query understanding, including intent recognition and semantic understanding
• Prototype and implement models, formulas, and re-ranking approaches

Requirements

• Track record building search, recommendations, or ranking systems shipped to real users
• Advanced degree in a quantitative field (CS, ML, Statistics, Math) or equivalent experience
• Deep understanding of search and recommendation systems, retrieval, and ranking

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multimodal or image-based search
• E-commerce or marketplace search experience
• Experience with color or perceptual science
