Staff Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test APIs for new products, features, and services
• Maintain and optimize existing systems, with emphasis on database-related performance
• Collaborate with other engineers across the stack as well as cross-functional stakeholders
• Keep up to date with the latest technologies and industry best practices
• Serve as an on-call engineer approximately one week per month to triage incoming issues

Requirements

• 8+ years of production development experience in backend/API
• Strong knowledge of Go, AWS, Docker (ECS), and Postgres (RDS)
• Experience managing Docker-based microservice architecture
• Proven ability to employ software quality measures like unit/integration testing and monitoring
• Experience working in a fast-moving startup environment
• Strong product thinking and user experience focus

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with ETL
• Keen intuition for optimized database performance
