Responsibilities

• Make real improvements to enterprise-grade retail software at scale
• Set technical direction and make architecture calls that shape system evolution
• Work with stakeholders to scope, sharpen, and stress-test customer-facing features
• Partner across the organization on unified solutions for problems that span multiple teams
• Mentor other engineers to help them grow their skills
• Help the team plan, estimate, and de-risk large projects by breaking them down and sequencing them effectively
• Set the bar for engineering judgment, code quality, and craft

Requirements

• Track record of building and running production systems at scale
• Deep, hands-on experience in a modern backend stack (e.g., .NET/C#, TypeScript, Ruby)
• Experience designing scalable data models across relational and non-relational stores
• Proficiency using LLMs routinely for research, diagnosis, and code review
• Ability to communicate hard trade-offs clearly to engineers, product, and leadership
• Strong ownership mindset, focusing on outcomes rather than just tasks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the cannabis industry
• Experience building POS, Ecommerce, or Payments technology
• Experience building and monitoring cloud-native infrastructure (AWS)
• Deep experience with third-party integrations
• Experience bringing AI-assisted workflows or agents to an engineering team
