Staff Site Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define SLIs and SLOs for critical request paths and introduce error budgets to balance reliability against feature work
• Strengthen the end-to-end incident lifecycle, including detection, response, communication, and postmortem quality
• Lead reliability reviews for high-risk changes and new services to ensure production readiness and capacity
• Implement deliberate failure testing, such as game days and chaos exercises, in staging and production
• Coach and embed with engineering teams to develop SRE mindsets and codify operational practices
• Lead AI adoption in reliability practices, shaping runbooks and observability tooling for AI-assisted diagnosis

Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years in a dedicated SRE or reliability-focused Staff role
• Deep expertise in SLI/SLO design and the practical application of error budgets
• Proven track record of leading incident response for high-severity, customer-facing events
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems failure modes in high-throughput, low-latency environments
• Proficiency with Kubernetes, AWS, and modern observability tools like Datadog
• Ability to read and write production code in Go, TypeScript, or similar languages
• Strong written communication skills and a preference for asynchronous, documented decision-making

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fraud detection, identity, or payments domains
• Experience with multi-region or cell-based failure-isolation architectures
• Expertise with Elasticsearch, Redis, DynamoDB, or Kafka at scale
• Familiarity with FinOps and cloud infrastructure cost-reliability trade-offs
