Responsibilities

  • Create technical documentation including install, configuration, and troubleshooting guides, how-tos, user manuals, and man pages
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Developers, and QA to ensure high-quality output
  • Use text, markdown, images, and diagrams to make documentation accessible to all experience levels
  • Leverage AI tooling to draft, polish, and refine content
  • Maintain documentation versioning and contribute to the overall documentation strategy

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a technical writer
  • Graduate-level written English and excellent verbal communication skills
  • Experience documenting complex systems and writing user-oriented content
  • Proficiency with markup languages, specifically Markdown
  • Experience with installation and configuration of database server software on Linux
  • Knowledge of docs-as-code tools such as Jenkins, git, HTML, and JavaScript
  • Comfort with the Linux command line and developer tools like gcc and gdb
  • Ability to work autonomously in a globally distributed organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Developer or DevOps background
  • Track record of contributing to PostgreSQL or other open source projects
  • Understanding of PostgreSQL internals
  • Knowledge of database storage engines, at-rest encryption, and cloud orchestration
  • Ability to build automated documentation testing and CI/CD pipelines
