Upswing exists to empower the historically marginalized to overcome systemic personal or educational obstacles to achieve their life goals. We partner with educational institutions to connect students to resources through technology and services, including online tutoring.

Responsibilities

• Foster student independence using the Socratic method
• Help students develop critical thinking skills
• Conduct online sessions via a virtual classroom featuring video, audio, chat, and a whiteboard
• Maintain responsiveness to session requests

Requirements

• Subject matter expertise or advanced knowledge in a specific subject area
• Access to reliable, high-speed internet and a quiet, distraction-free environment
• Reliable laptop or desktop with camera and microphone functionality
• Ability to tutor a minimum of 2-5 hours per week during fall and spring semesters
• Ability to receive payments via PayPal
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in teaching methodology or instruction
• Experience tutoring at the college level (e.g., math lab or writing center)
• History of excellent academic grades in undergraduate or graduate studies
