About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Legal Advisory and Governance function and supervise legal advisors
- Provide strategic legal advice to the Director-General and senior leadership
- Identify, assess and advise on legal and governance risks
- Draft and review legal opinions, contracts, policies and governance documents
- Support disputes management and monitor contractual and legal compliance
Requirements
- Recognised legal qualification such as LLB, GDL or equivalent
- Qualification as solicitor or barrister in the United Kingdom or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years post-qualification legal experience
- Senior legal advisory or General Counsel experience
- Experience leading and supervising legal professionals
- Strong analytical, drafting and stakeholder-management skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications in corporate governance, commercial, employment or data protection law
- Knowledge of climate change, sustainability or emerging digital technologies
- Experience in nonprofit or international organisations
