Engineering Manager – Data Platform

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary data engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and ownership
• Mentor engineers through coaching, structured feedback, and clear career development paths
• Own the full data lifecycle, including ingestion, transformation, storage, serving, and observability
• Drive technical direction through architecture design, code reviews, and complex troubleshooting
• Set best practices for data modeling, pipeline reliability, testing, and data quality
• Champion an AI-first engineering culture by setting standards for AI-assisted development and LLM-powered workflows
• Collaborate with Product, Analytics, ML, and Finance teams to deliver against a fast-moving roadmap
• Ensure secure data handling practices aligned with PCI-DSS, GDPR, and other compliance frameworks

Requirements

• Experience managing and growing data or software engineering teams, including hiring and performance management
• Strong hands-on background in data or software engineering, specifically designing pipelines and platform architecture at scale
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Deep understanding of streaming and batch processing architectures (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Flink, or Airflow)
• Experience with cloud data infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data platform tools like dbt
• Knowledge of data quality, observability, and governance principles
• Experience delivering in agile environments
• Professional proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the payments or fintech industry
• Familiarity with real-time analytics and event-driven architectures
• Exposure to ML platform design or feature store infrastructure
• Experience with DevOps practices applied to data, such as CI/CD for pipelines and infrastructure as code
