About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the standards picture across products and markets including IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061
- Serve as the named Functional Safety Manager, owning the safety plan, lifecycle phases, and safety case
- Author safety manuals and subsystem data packs for customers
- Manage certification body relationships end-to-end, including scope, submission, and surveillance
- Monitor regulatory changes, including EU Machinery Regulation readiness
- Analyze field modification impacts and safety anomalies to update the safety argument
Requirements
- 7+ years in functional safety as a practicing engineer in industrial, automotive, aerospace, or medical domains
- Experience taking at least one product through third-party certification end-to-end
- Deep fluency in IEC 61508 parts 1–3
- Working knowledge of ISO 13849 and IEC 62061 from the supplier side
- Ability to critically review safety analysis and challenge technical claims
- B.S. or higher in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- TÜV Rheinland FS Engineer or Exida CFSE/CFSP certification
- Experience with AGV and AMR under ISO 3691-4 or agricultural machinery under ISO 25119
- Exposure to autonomy and SOTIF (UL 4600, ISO 21448)
- Experience working at a certification body or as a contracted assessor
